Webinars in Education and Training

With internet technology continually evolving, it is now possible to get connected with people across your town, city, country or world at any time we want! This evolution has allowed us to access much, much more information than ever before, particularly within the education sector. It has opened the accessibility of education to a wider population through real-time, live, online classes. This now means there are people who are advancing their knowledge and skills who would have otherwise not been able to do so.

What is a Live Webinar Training Course?

A web-based seminar or webinar is a presentation, lecture, workshop or seminar conducted over the internet using video conferencing software, for example, Zoom, Teams or Skype. During this time the tutor connects with learners interactively and teaches the subject, thereby replicating a classroom environment and the learning that would happen within it. At Axiom Dynamics, we use this style of training for many of our courses across the UK.

Is it For Me?

The short answer is ‘Yes’.

We get enquiries every day about our LIVE WEBINAR courses, most commonly the Level 3 teaching qualification or to give it its full title the Level 3 Award in Education and Training AET, (or ‘old PTTLS’ course as its also known).

Below I am going to highlight 6 reasons why live webinar training is for you!

1.     A better understanding of content.

Webinars DO NOT mean a compromise on the quality of education, in fact, quite the opposite. According to a study by the U.S. Department of Education, “on average, students in online learning conditions performed modestly better than those receiving face-to-face instruction.” This study found that students who take online classes perform better that those who use face to face teaching in a classroom.

There are plenty of factors that would account for this for example, online classes are recorded and offer playback from the live recording and screen sharing sessions allow learners to chat and share files or ideas.

2.     Cost-Efficiency.

The cost of attending a three day classroom-based training session does not take long to mount up. Travel costs, parking, possible accommodation costs and lunch, tea/ coffee and biscuits all need to be paid for. You may even have to pay for the tutors too!!

Webinars will save you a great deal of money but do not forget one of the most overlooked savings a webinar can offer is that of time. No traffic jams for you or leaving early to miss ‘rush hour’ traffic.

3.     Flexibility and Convenience.

Web-based webinar software comes with the ability to record a webinar live. This allows for a convenience factor that no other form of learning or learning tool can imitate in its entirety, as learners can access the webinar recording at anytime that is convenient for them.

From a geographical sense, tutors and learners alike can teach or learn from anywhere in the world. Learners may not be able to enrol in courses they would like to take, simply because those courses are not offered in their local educational institution. Webinars allow you to learn from anywhere. This is one of the significant benefits of webinars in education.

4.     Interactive.

Webinars put all learners on an equal level when contributing in the virtual class.

Teachers or tutors may be viewed as more approachable online, therefore learners could be more comfortable communicating with teachers through interactive discussions as opposed to face-to-face interactions. Questions can be asked at any stage using the software by sending a text message on the screen directly to your tutor without anyone knowing it came from you.

5.     Networking.

Webinars are a great way to grow your network. While on a webinar course, you will meet and interact with learners in other towns, cities or countries so you can use the webinars to connect yourself or your business and the products or the services you offer. This is a benefit of webinars that is not to be understated.

6.     Webinars Are Easy to Use.

Where a reliable internet connection exists, people with communication devices can learn. This has resulted in more and more people switching to live online training courses. With a compatible browser, you can access webinars from a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer. As an additional bonus, they can be accessed in the comfort of your home, office, or anywhere else that suits you.

Summary

The development in technology is increasing in all ways of life, but for education, these developments are very positive. The conventional teacher and pupil, trainer and learner and professor and student are making way for a new form of education and learning and the webinar is the way forward. Say ‘Good-Bye’ to the Classroom!
