The objective of this qualification is to support a role in the workplace. It is designed for learners who currently hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor and need to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked qualifications requirements. This course includes your Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) training and certificate.

  • administering first aid to a choking casualty
  • dealing with shock, burns, scalds, bleeds and minor injuries

Method of Assessment:

Learners must complete:

  • Practical observation: the practical assessment is completed throughout the course delivery. This ongoing practical assessment requires learners to demonstrate the use of communication devices. The learner is also practically assessed on the application of physical intervention techniques. The practical assessment will be recorded in line with the new requirements using the practical matrix within the Assessment Pack.
  • Externally set and marked multiple-choice theory assessment: learners are required to answer a series of questions contained within theory question papers covering each of the disciplines. Axiom Dynamics provide access to e-assessment, therefore, providing the learner with the opportunity to get their results on the day, this assists in speeding up your licence application.

Who is the Level 2 Award in Door Supervision (Top-Up) for?

It is designed for learners who currently hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor and need to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked qualifications requirements. With the SIA Door Supervisors Licence individuals can work in:

Door Supervisor Training or Security Guard Training

We often get asked about the difference between a Door Supervisor Licence and Security Guard Licence. Door Supervisor Licence allows you to work as a Door Supervisor and a Security Guard vs Security Guard Licence, which only permits you to work in a Manned Guarding role.
Most employers from experience prefer the Door Supervisors Licence over the Security Guard Licence.

Total Qualification Time

To complete this qualification learners are expected to undertake (3 days) of training.
Self-study for the Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry unit refers only to the use of authorised ACT E-learning with can be completed with Axiom Dynamics.

TQT is an estimate of the total number of hours it would take an average learner to achieve and demonstrate the necessary level of attainment to be awarded with a qualification, both under direct supervision (forming guided learning hours) and without supervision (all other time). TQT values are advisory and assigned to a qualification as guidance.

Requirements

To register for this qualification, learners must be aged 18 and over.
Hold an SIA Door Supervisor Licence.

Language prerequisite

Security operatives are likely in the course of their work to be required to make calls to the emergency services, or for example communicate to resolve conflict. It is essential that security operatives can communicate effectively.
It is the centre’s responsibility to ensure that each learner is sufficiently competent in the use of the English and/or Welsh language. All assessment must be conducted in the medium of English and/or Welsh as appropriate.
Learners should, as a minimum, have language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Training centres must ensure that all learners have sufficient reading, writing, speaking and listening language skills before putting the learners forward for training and assessment.

ID requirements

It is the responsibility of each centre to have systems in place to ensure that the person taking licence-linked qualifications is indeed the person they are purporting to be.
All centres are therefore required to ensure that each learner’s photograph and formal
identification documents are checked and recorded before they are allowed to sit the
examination/assessment.
